Who are we?
The National Institute of Science (NIS) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt national scientific organization. This organization provides an opportunity for students and faculty members at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) to exchange information and present scholarly research papers in science and mathematics. In addition, the NIS provides a forum for participants to interact and network with high school students, community groups, and other scientific organizations and institutions. Each year, the NIS, along with the Beta Kapp Chi Scientific Honor Society (BKX), holds its joint annual meeting to give students an opportunity to present research papers and network with professionals currently…
Annual Conference
NIS partners with Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society (BKX) for a national conference to present research papers, science projects and enjoy science-related events and activities. The meeting allows high school students, community groups, and other scientific organizations and institutions from throughout the country, an extraordinary opportunity to interact and network.

NIS 75th Anniversary
NIS 75th Anniversary National Institute of Science founders - Dr. Hubert B. Crouch of Kentucky State University and Dr. Thomas W. Turner of Hampton University - shared the same concern that African American scientists and researchers lacked a forum to discuss their own research and academic achievement, with fellow colleagues and peers.
